AssociateMr. Kelly is a Trial and Appellate attorney and business counselor. He has over 100 civil verdicts in various Courts and venues throughout the United States. He has more than 30 published appellate level decisions. He has tried criminal cases with worldwide interest. He is admitted to practice in New York, Connecticut, Washington, D.C. and the Federal Courts. Mr. Kelly has tried and appealed complex high exposure cases including personal injury, medical malpractice, subrogation, construction litigation, business and insurance disputes, securities arbitrations and mediation, pharmaceutical home and industrial products liability, mass torts, professional liability (accountants, lawyers, financial analysts, architects and engineers, directors and officers), employer practices, hotel and resorts, commercial and UCC, secured transactions and premises liability.
He has experience as National Coordinating Counsel for a Fortune 50 home products company. Mr. Kelly has represented Lloyd's of London interests in the United States. Mr. Kelly has also represented the interests of international concerns for cross-border transactions, real estate development, mergers and capital acquisitions. Mr. Kelly is President of his local bar association, Chair of the Lewisboro Town Emergency Services Board, Chairman Emeritus of The Committee on the Development of the Law of the Defense Association of New York. He has appeared on numerous occasions as amicus counsel to the State's highest court. He serves on the litigation committee and the Intelligence and National Security committees of the Federalist Society. He is a member of the Torts, Insurance and Compensation Committee of the New York State Bar Association. Mr. Kelly is President of the Castle Club, an engineer organization. Mr. Kelly has practiced law with various companies, and in his own partnership, based in the New York Metropolitan Area. He has experience as trial attorney, appellate attorney, risk manager, assistant general counsel, litigation manager and reinsurance broker. He has conducted trials in all of the pertinent jurisdictions and has been called to appear as special counsel for complicated cases throughout the United States. Mr. Kelly has counseled individual clients and industry since 1988 and has performed risk management consultation for, conducted trials, and pursued appeals on behalf of his clients throughout the world.
MAJ Kelly was the Chief Counsel for the 411th Theater Army Engineer Brigade recently returned from an enormously successful 14 months in Iraq. As Chief Counsel (Staff Judge Advocate), MAJ Kelly was responsible for 2.2 billion dollars in construction, rehabilitations and engineering projects over the period in Iraq. MAJ Kelly was primarily responsible for all fiscal and regulatory aspects of the operations and was intimately involved in all planning and management.
The projects ran the gamut from life support areas, or small cities for 30,000 troops to complete airfields for international air operations. Most of the projects were undertaken in austere and hostile environments. The Brigade cleared, repaired and maintained 300,000 kilometers of roadways; inspected, repaired and replaced bridges and conducted riverine operations in support of logistical movement.
The Brigade’s design cell created more than 450 projects including water treatment plants, re-cycling centers, sewage treatment, electrical power generation, force protection and many others. All of the projects were managed by MAJ Kelly for environmental, fiscal and regulatory compliance.
Kelly has appeared in numerous media including, CW11, FOX, ABC, CN8 television, Family Channel, and Pentagon Channel television along with various radio interviews. He has been featured in a number of newspapers and magazines and has been sought out for quotes and opinions on wide-ranging legal matters.Jursdictions: New York, Connecticut, Washington, D.C., Federal Courts.
